In 1789 George Washington announced the very first Thanksgiving. This is a special Time for all of us to be thankful. Every year we can be thankful for different reasons.
In 2013 I am thankful for my new grandson Charlie.
I am also thankful this year for my Dirksen Peace Building students.

11-12-13

We can all agree we have ONE thing in common, we are all members of the HUMAN RACE.  As a group today we can focus on Random Acts of Kindness on 11-12-13.  
We will be extra kind to people in our communities and schools.

We are off school on Monday to honor our War Veterans. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month a silent moment was observed in 1919. Since then  Veterans Day, a legal holiday, is dedicated to American Veterans of all wars.
               Do you know anyone that is a soldier? Or someone who is very special to you?  Give their name and reasons why you feel that person is respected.
