Poinsettas

Poinsettias are the pretty red flowering plant you see this time of year. The plant is originated in Mexico and has become a symbol of Christmas. There is now 100 different varieties of colors of the poinsettia plant. My favorite is red. This year they expect to sell 150 million plants. That is a lot of flowers!

Nobel Peace Prize

Today is the Nobel Peace Prize Day. Alfred Nobel invented dynamite. He hated that dynamite became such a big part of our wars and caused injury and death. He then wanted this day to honor those that lead PEACE in our country. Nobel wanted something good to be remembered by him and not the dynamite. Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, and President Obama are a few of the winners of the Nobel Peace Prize.
