Scrooge
Today is Scrooge's birthday. He is the main character in the story Christmas Carol. For most of the story Scrooge is really "stingy" or selfish and mean. Can you think of a time it would be smart to be stingy or selfish?

Temperature
On this day, in 1947, a town in Canada has the record lowest temperature of 62 degrees below zero. This is the coldest temperature ever recorded. It gets really cold here in Joliet but not as cold as 62 degrees below zero.

Groundhog Day
Today we celebrate Groundhog Day. If the groundhog sees his shadow we have six more weeks of winter and the groundhog goes back in his hole. Today the goundhog did see his shadow so looks like we have 6 more weeks of winter.
